		<title>Election 2008</title>
		<link>http://palivillagebooks.com/vb/index.php/Latest/Election-2008.html</link>
		<description>
With less than 50 days to go before the election, the time is NOW to brush up on the candidates and/or issues. Stop by the store and peruse our bi-partisan selection of election-related books for all ages. There are plenty of books by and about the two presidential candidates, John McCain and Barack Obama, as well as their running mates. You can also choose from a wide assortment of titles aimed at introducing this important process and responsibility to children. And for the truly undecided (or dismayed), may we recommend Duck for President, a story of farm animals with ambition. :-) Don't forget to vote on November 4!!!

		<description>
For lovers of books and bookstores, there is a new blog in town! Two of Village Books' very own customers have started www.bookstorepeople.com (http://www.bookstorepeople.com/) to muse and amuse us. Claire LaZebnik and Kim Allen-Niesen share not only a friendship but a fierce passion for books, reading and independent bookstores. They write, The primary reason for the blog is to highlight independent bookstores in the hope that it will encourage people to visit them and buy books from them. We'll also write about books, literary places and adventures, and people who are passionate about the reading world. Amen to that. There's even a specific shout out to Village Books (http://bookstorepeople.com/2008/07/25/theres-no-place-like-home/#more-27). Thank you and right back at you bookstorepeople! You're our kind of folk.

		<description>
Well, here it is August already. We realize that some of you would rather bury your nose in a good beach read, but we're here to say....school is just around the corner!! We've got a great selection of books for youngsters getting ready to start Kindergarten or head back to elementary school, college guides for the older set, and reference books for everyone. And for those of you who haven't quite gotten around to your summer reading - we're fully stocked with required titles for area schools. Please accept our heartfelt apology for looking ahead right now, but it's that time of year and we must once more go unto the breach!
